Airscrew 1.2 - 1.3 GHz RHCP Antenna (IBCRAZY)

The Airscrew antenna is the 3-lobe replacement antenna for your 1.2Ghz ULTRA antenna set. It is right hand circular polarized, and can be used with linearly polarized antennas (with some loss) or a more perfect match is another right hand circularly polarized antenna (IBCrazy 5-lobe MAD MUSHROOM). Very wide band and can be used as a transmit or receive antenna. Not to be used with left hand circular polarized antennas.

This antenna has a balun on the feed line. The balun reduces skin effect currents that track down the shield of the cable and the transmitter case. While these currents actually improve VSWR, they cause the antenna to not have the highest circularity and thus the ability to reject multipath interference is reduced without it. An added bonus to the balun is it helps control RFI. Antenna is mounted on a small but very stiff 2″ cable with a straight SMA connector.
