It can simply be used as basic OSD for FPV or in companion with auto-pilot modules such as APM and Pixhawk. This version comes with Pixhawk compatible connector for a simple connection.

Mini OSD Quick Installation Guide: The Mini OSD, or "On-Screen Display," is a small circuit board that pulls telemetry data from your autopilot and overlays it on your FPV monitor.

Autopilot compatible devices: You can also connect the Mini OSD to any of the autopilot, such as APM and Pixhawk.
Note that the Mini OSD only "listens," so it is possible (though not recommended) to connect it in parallel with a telemetry radio (e.g., SiK Radio or similar).

Overview: 
It reads all the MAVLink data in the APM telemetry stream and overlays it on the video stream if you're using an on-board camera and wireless video transmitter. This is useful for flying in First Person View (FPV) mode or if you prefer not to use a laptop at the field to see your telemetry data in the Mission Planner.
